Marc French

Narrative Designer & Game Writer

I am a London-based dramaturg-turned-gamedev.

Inspired by the likes of Mieville and VanderMeer, and drawn to games by the genius of Disco Elysium and Death Stranding, I am impassioned by the goal of creating meaningful, narratively driven interactive media.

I began my career in 2022, in the ashes of London’s post-COVID theatre scene, a fresh-faced graduate of a local drama school. I wrote plays, one of which made it to the stage, while juggling table reads, workshops, R&Ds, auditions, and a very brief television appearance (handsomely adorned in 16th-century garments).

In 2024, I dipped my toes into the world of game writing, driven by need to see my work realised. I invaded indie studios’ Discord servers to beg for work, shamelessly self-promoted on itch.io, and it paid off. I landed my first job.

I have not looked back.

Currently, I write for Black Voyage Gamestactical rogue-like, Lost In The Open, and work on Path to Menzoberranzan, a Baldur’s Gate 3 campaign mod, as a writer and narrative designer.
